About the Project
Document energy stories from informal settlements to map changes in energy access, use, consumption, and social inclusion dynamics. This data contributed to ACTS' research on inclusivity in renewable energy and provided an empirical basis for formulating inclusive energy policies. These policies aim to ensure sustainable energy for all, as envisioned by SDG 7 and Kenya’s Vision 2030.
This initiative documents the evolving energy narratives from informal settlements, offering a nuanced understanding of changes in energy access, usage, and consumption patterns. It also explores the social inclusion dynamics tied to renewable energy adoption in marginalized communities. By capturing these stories, the project provides critical data that strengthens ACTS' research on fostering inclusivity in renewable energy. This empirical evidence informs the development of inclusive energy policies that prioritize equitable access, affordability, and sustainability. Such policies are pivotal to achieving the global goals of SDG 7—ensuring affordable and clean energy for all—and advancing Kenya's Vision 2030 by integrating renewable energy into its socio-economic development framework, promoting a just and resilient energy transition.
